U6 Academy
All practices for the Under 6 academy players are on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
All matches (games) are on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 11:00 am
Parent volunteers' coach small groups of players with directions from the Academy Coach Coordinator. When you sign up your player your participation and volunteerism as a "Parent Coach" is essential. No knowledge of soccer is needed. Just a desire to enjoy time with your player and other children and help them learn and grow. "Team Parent" help the coach keep the players organized and attentive, pass along club and academy information to the other parents and help collect snack fees for the season, help groups get their pictures taken, take attendance and keep the Coach Coordinator informed of any concerns or problems your group players or parents may be having during the season.
U6 players play 3 v 3 for the youngest players and players new to soccer. As skill and age increase they will play 4 v 4. There are no goal keepers in this age group. This age group is all about skill development, having fun, learning to follow direction, learning basic rules of the game (like which way to go) and good sportsmanship.
The club would like a "group" to have 4 to 5 players each but that does depend on how many parent volunteers step forward. Okolona Soccer Club is run by ALL VOLUNTEERS. All the club officers, board members, committee chair and members and coaches volunteer their time coaching and maintain the fields.
