Ages 4 to under 6. Birth years 2013 & 2016 We can take 3 year old's who will be turning 4 during the season. They child needs to be able to pay attention for at least 5-10 minutes, preferable attend pre-school or day care, understand sharing. Parents must stay and be available to help their player. Parent volunteers' coach small groups of players with directions from the Academy Coach Coordinator. When you sign up your player your participation and volunteerism as a "Parent Coach" is essential. No knowledge of soccer is needed. Just a desire to enjoy time with your player and other children and help them learn and grow. "Team Parent" help the coach keep the players organized and attentive, pass along club and academy information to the other parents and help collect snack fees for the season, help groups get their pictures taken, take attendance and keep the Coach Coordinator informed of any concerns or problems your group players or parents may be having during the season. All parents are encouraged to get out there and participate and help your player be successful and have fun.
This age group plays play 3 v 3. The more "touch on ball the better and with 3 v 3 they should get quite a few. As their skill develops they will progress to 4 v 4. There are no goal keepers in this age group. They will learn goal kicks, corner kicks, throw in and basic skills of the game. At this age passing is not really in their vocabulary and only the most skilled and mature players will actually pass; but it will be taught. All fouls will be a indirect kick. There is a "box" in front of the goal that players may not defend from or score from. This is more for the safety of the players. This age group you will have everyone sliding into the goal without it. Coaches will referee the match (game). The match is a "teaching" opportunity. Explaining what infraction was committed and how to correct it. Pushing and tripping are the two most frequent. There is a big difference between an "accidental" push or trip (play may continue) and one done on "purpose" that needs to be corrected.
The main focus with this age group is having fun, developing social skills, learning soccer skills, having fun, following directions, learning some soccer rules (like which way to go to score), having fun. They do not play in the rain and when the heat index is too high practice will be cancelled. The schedule is for eight weeks. There are "healthy snacks" and a drink at the end of each match and an "end of season" party and medals after the last match which is usually the first weekend in November in the fall and First weekend in June in the spring season..
Supplies your player will need:
- 1. #3 soccer ball with the players name on it
- 2. Shin guards (players can not participate without them) Be careful not to get them to big. They should not be wider than your players leg or so long they hit under the knee.

- 5. Clothing that fits the weather. NO jeans please, they can not move in them.

- 6. Sun screen and bug repellent are advised.
- 7. NO JEWLEY! ear rings must be taken out
The club has a box of out grown soccer shoes and shin guards donated by previous parents for any player and parent who needs them. Please ask prior to start of practice and we can meet to see if there is something that fits your player.
